JAKARTA: State-utility company PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) has got proposals on a mini hydro power plants (PLTMH) in Indonesia for western region of Indonesia in 300 MW-capacity .
PLN director of western regions of Indonesia, Harry Jaya Pahlawan , said that the locations are in areas in southern part of Sumatra with regard its big potential of water resources.
To that end, the electricity company has called on the participation of investors to build mini hydro power plants in remote areas.
“We called for the participation of investors to build mini hydro power plants which will use high voltage if the capacity is big and medium voltage if the capacity is small,” said Harry, Monday (8/10/2012).
Harry said that so far a number of investors have showed interests in building mini hydro power plants.
“We have got many proposals especially for capacity up to 300 MW. Mostly are from independent power producers (IPPs) so that PT PLN will only buy electricity from IPPs,” he said.
Indonesia’s installed capacity of PLTMH so far is 500 MW totally all over the country.
There will be 55 MW of PLTMH which will be operational this year in Sulawesi, North Sumatera, South Sumatera and West Java with capacity ranging from 1 MW to 10 MW.
Earlier it was reported the state-owned electricity company PT PLN signed a Power Purchase Agreement or PPA for electricity from mini hydro power plants or PLTMH. Among others are PPA for PLTMH Induring, Pesisir Selatan Regency and PLTMH Gumanti III.
A power purchase agreement or PPA for PLTMH Induring was signed by General Manager of PLN West Sumatera Barat Judi Winardi and President Director of PT Pembangkit Listrik Induring Iqbal Rahim Wilis.
Meanwhile, it was reported that PLTMH Induring is in 2x0.6 MW which is located in Induring Village of Batangkapas District, Pesisir Selatan Regency, West Sumatera which will be built by PT Pembangkit Listrik Induring.
A power purchase agreement PPA PLTMH Gumanti III was signed by PLN West Sumatera and director of PT Supraco Mitra Energie Misyal A Bahwal as a contractor of PLTMH Gumanti III.
The power plant is in 2 x 2.5 MW + 1x1.45 MW which is located in Nagari Sarik Alahan Tigo, Hiliran Gumanti Ditrict, Solok Regency, West Sumatera.
